Picture of the Day Part 265: For Friday

Since I was unable to post one Friday...

Picture of the Day Part 264: Left Overs

The left over shots from Chelle and my's trip to Tulia.

Picture of the Day Part 263: Disappointment

They clash on battlefields of soul
the Light and the Dark
They rip and shred and tear asunder
weaving chaos with voices of thunder

... )

I love this show. so. much. It's unreal. Atlantis has so much quirky humor I die sometimes.

McKay: "Ok, lets say a magic fairy comes down and grants you one wish and we break out, then what? We're still on a hive, we're still traveling through hyperspace, probably in the MASSIVE void between our two galaxies, where there aren't even planets let alone stargates, what then huh? We fly home on the wings of imagination? Is that what we do Ronin?"

Col. Sheppard: "Operation 'This will most likely end badly' is a go."

IOA Rep Woolsy: "Nothing renews your appreciation for the military like the treat of invasion from life sucking aliens."

Picture of the DayPart 262: For Andrew

He Strums My Heart Strings

for every string of sorrow they plucked,
you plucked a thousand of joy
for all the cruelity of others words
a hundred kindnesses you showed
for every ounce of strength they sapped
ten fold you gave of yours
for every fear and doubt they sowed
a spring overflowing of courage you were

Never has anyone
been what you are to me
for every weeping wound I own
comes a million kisses from your lips
for every time they fought with me
you expressed infinite patience
and understanding.
For every hate they gave in the end
you wove your love over me.

Picture of the Day Part 261: Wind Blown

Michelle pretended to get blown around furiously by the wind. And I decided to capture that. And make a gif. Enjoy :D

Picture of the Day Part 260: Let There Be Light

I purchased lights to wind around the metal frame of my daybed as part of my goal to live more whimsically.

Picture of the day Part 259: Giving of Thanks

I am thankful for laughter
The smiles of loved ones,
For never going hungry
For the roof over my head.

I'm thankful for friends
and shoulders to cry on
For the love of my siblings
and the joy of my pets.

I'm thankful for art
for creative outlets
For a job and money
and the ability to pursue my dreams.

I'm thankful for freedom
both fought for and given
for parents who support me
and sacrifice so I can thrive

I'm thankful for life
and being able to breath
for sunlight and rain
and the kisses of wind

Picture of the Day Part 256: Flower Power

I love that we have wild flowers growing in the backyard. I love even more that my dad likes them.

Picture of the Day Part 255: Limitations

I think I am ready to take my photography to a new level. I want to incorporate nudity in my ideas. I think my religious upbringing has kept me from fully exploring the human body in my art. Shamed into finding nudity embarrassing or sinful I'm ready to break free. I explored my heart into sadness last night by flipping through the work of Sofia Ajram on flickr. Her work blows me away, and in my envy last night I doubted my own skills. She also seems so comfortable with her body and with the idea of adding nudity to her work. It's tasteful, elegant, even raw at times. And I'm ready for that. I don't want a single limitation with my work. And I ready to deal with the kind of feedback I'm sure to get from certain members of my family.

I started my path with me last night. It's only a taste, a hint at the idea as I loathe my body and don't wish to show case it. Instead I tasted the flavor of adding this ingredient into the mix. If I can find the right models I think this will add to my style. There is such beauty in the human form, and I want to capture it.

Picture of the Day Part 254: The Offering

Faithful Muse,
Oh faithful Muse
My heart cries out to you.

Blessings upon this ragged soul
I am but your humble fool.

Picture of the Day Part 251: Hoola Hoop

I had the pleasure of photographing Paula this weekend. She is a Hoola Hoop instructor with amazing talent. This was a learning experience for me as I have done little to no action photography. Most of all my stuff is posed. We met for about an hour near my house and did up some pictures for a website she is putting up. In exchange for my services she gave me one of her demo hoops and a free lesson, and permission to retain the photographs for portfolio purposes. I'm excited because she is going to pass my name along to several other instructors so I hope the 100+ pictures I took yesterday turn out well in post production. This was my favorite shot of the day, even though it is posed.

Picture of the Day Part 250: The Tactical Scarf

And this makes four. I finished Chelle's and Kat's and am onto Andrew's. Also I can't believe I am already half way through the 200's. I wonder how I'll feel when I hit 500. I think it will be time to make a book of all my PotD's then.

Picture of the Day Part 249: Tea Plants

I completed another thing on my list. Well half completed because I only planted half of my tea cups. I have four more that will have more flower type plants in them. This was a lovely way to spend the morning of my day off. The weather was nice outside and ideal for a photoshoot. I can't wait till my little seeds spring into life.

Picture of the Day Part 248: The Council

The Council of Elders was unconvinced the threat of danger was real. The premonitions of one just were not enough to seek out help. Aurora feared they were wrong; danger would come to them and then it would be too late.
